Q&A with Nina Belyakova, President of the Regional Charitable Blue Cross in RussiaNina BelyakovaPresident of the Regional Charitable Blue Cross in Russia
1. Why is the work of the Blue Cross important to you?
The Blue Cross is a charitable organization from God for the healing of humanity. It is a precious gift for me to be a co-worker in God's enormous work.
2. Are you convinced of the impact of your work – if so, which aspects?
Every year I am convinced that there is an increasing need for a competent approach to recovering from dependence. There are more and more people who have undergone rehabilitation from dependence in Christian communities and therefore there is a need for constant work to prevent breakdowns, both among addicts and their relatives. As a result of working in the «12 Step» groups, the desire of people to achieve their personal integrity becomes obvious. Priests are more open to receive information about dependence and allow for the creation of support groups now, in contrast to their resistance 20 years ago.
3. What was your happiest moment during your time with Blue Cross?
Meeting with representatives of the Blue Cross of different countries and denominations.
4. What is/was your biggest challenge in your work for Blue Cross?
To convince people that it is necessary to use a comprehensive solution to the problem of addiction. Do not lose heart when you experience the rejection of fellow believers and hear ridicule, He will provide.
5. Blue Cross in your country: What do you consider your most important project?
To spread our principles of helping dependent and co-dependent people throughout Russia so that they can achieve personal integrity. I feel that this way we can help to solve our national problem of dependence.
