Inauguration of the new headquarters of Blue Cross in Brazil

Blumenau, Santa Catarina, 5 August 2012

After a week of final preparations accompanied by intense rainfall, Saturday's inauguration and the anniversary of 17 years of the Blue Cross in Brazil was beautiful and unforgettable. More than 150 people attended. Among them was the mayor of Blumenau, state and district legislators from Brasilia, a representative of the governor of the state of Santa Catarina, councilors, municipal secretaries, church authorities, partners, directors, members and friends of the Blue Cross .

The event was divided into two parts. First a solemn ceremony was held in front of the newly built Blue Cross building, with a message delivered by the missionary Alair Scheidt, and later a speech by mayor John Paul Kleinübing. Then we cut the inaugural ribbon and unveiled the plaque in the Louis Lucien Rochat auditorium. The plaque was designed and cast by Luis Carlos Avila Rossi and his wife Roseli Maria Avila who was one of the founders of the Blue Cross in Brazil.

The second part was exciting from beginning to end. It was held in the auditorium where speeches and special tributes were given, including an homage to Mrs. Anita Reinke. Mrs. Reinke, along with her now deceased husband, brought Blue Cross to Brazil from Europe in 1983.
